FUNDATIA M&V SCHMIDT

The M&V Schmidt Foundation is a non-profit organization founded in 2010 by Michael Schmidt, President of MHS Holding, with the mission to contribute to the preservation and promotion of the Saxon culture in Transylvania. In addition, educational and humanitarian projects are also among the foundation’s top priorities.

Over its 15 years of activity, the M&V Schmidt Foundation has implemented more than 130 projects, including some of the most significant:
• The Haferland Week cultural festival, the largest local event dedicated to promoting the Saxon region of Transylvania;
• The Deutsch hat Klasse scholarship program for future teachers in German-language classrooms;
• Support for schools by providing educational materials for German-language classes;
• The restoration of the organ in the Fortified Church of Criț;
• Funding the documentary “The Organs of Transylvania – A Journey Through Time”;
• The reconstruction of the parish house in Criț, based on the original architectural plans;
• Publishing, in both Romanian and German, the books “The Story of the Transylvanian Saxons Told by Themselves”, “Criț – The History, Stories and Life of a Saxon Village”, and “Neighboring Traditions of the Saxons in Criț”, written by Ruxandra Hurezean;
• Cultural partnerships with renowned events such as the Sibiu International Theatre Festival;
• The after-school program “A Chance for Every Child!”, aimed at underprivileged children from the village of Criț;
• And various humanitarian actions for disadvantaged individuals in Saxon villages and beyond.
